The band Jot Drop (High German: "gut drauf") is a dialect music group.

history

Jot Drop was founded in Troisdorf in 2003 . The name of the band has existed in its current written form since 2008. The band was founded in 2003 under the name "Jot Drupp". This wording was changed after correction by the Akademie för uns kölsche Sproch . The Jot Drop GbR is a society for the maintenance of musical customs under civil law and is currently represented externally by two managing partners.

Instrumentation and repertoire

The five-person group of musicians is set up in today's line-up with the instruments drums, bass, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, keyboard and accordion. The singing voices are occupied by a lead singer and four background voices. The band makes around 80 appearances per year, around 45 of them during Carnival. Outside of the carnival sessions, the group can be heard with the annual program at city and summer festivals as well as company celebrations. A more than 60-minute repertoire of own compositions includes Cologne, carnival and mood music.

Appearances

On the way to the carnival, for example, Jot Drop could be heard on November 11, 2009 and 2011 at the opening of the sessions at the Heumarkt in Cologne or on Weiberfastnacht 2009 at the Alter Markt in Cologne . The music group occurs mainly in the Rhein-Sieg district, Bonn and Cologne. Adjacent regions, from the Eifel to Belgium and the Netherlands, have already been traveled outside of the Rhineland. The band was coached and trained by Wolfgang Nagel, known as the meeting president of the “ Laughing Cologne Arena ”. The lyrics of some of the songs on the album Alles op ein Kaat were written by Elfi Steickmann.

Discography

In 2008 the first studio album ( Alles op ein Kaat ) with twelve dialect songs was released .
