The Journal of Neuroscience is a scientific magazine that deals with all subject areas of neurobiology . The magazine is divided into the following sub-areas:

Before the publication of each article, the scientific studies are subject to a so-called peer review , which means that the individual articles are subject to an assessment by other experts who act as independent reviewers before they are published. The journal is published weekly by the Society for Neuroscience . The magazine was first published in 1981, then once a month.
The journal had an impact factor , as a measure of the average number of citations per published article, of 6,908 in the Journal Citation Report 2012 in 2013, which makes it 22nd out of 252 in terms of impact factor among neuroscientific journals.
