Journal of the History of Ideas

The Journal of the History of Ideas (JHI) is a specialist journal on the history of ideas and has been published quarterly since 1940. The magazine was initially published for many decades by the Johns Hopkins University Press , and since 2006 the University of Pennsylvania Press in Philadelphia has been the publisher .

Current editors are Warren Breckman , Martin Burke , Anthony Grafton , Ann Moyer, and Donald R. Kelley . The JHI appears in English and is obliged to encourage differentiation in regional reporting, chronological order and methodological approach.

The Journal defines history as accessible and comprehensively world that includes interdisciplinary, the history of philosophy , the history of literature , the history of art , the natural sciences and social sciences history, religious history and political history one. It also stimulates research at the intersections of cultural and spiritual history, for example the story of the book and visual culture .

Contributions to the JHI often examine the evolution of ideas and their influence on historical developments. The journal, which is relatively unpopulated in Europe, promotes greater collaboration among scholars in all areas of cultural and humanities disciplines.
