Joystick pilot

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A joystick pilot (engl. Joystick pilot ) is a pilot that controls as a suitable aircraft from outside from a control center or is authorized to do so. The remote-controlled aircraft are mostly so-called drones ( UAV , UAS or UCAV ).

This profession has played an increasingly important role in the air force since the Iraq war . For the first time in 2009, the US Air Force is training more joystick pilots than pilots for fighters and bombers.
