Judge the Florist

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Judge the Florist is a former flower shop in the Texan city of Tyler .

The business was founded by Eugene Watts Judge, who in 1915 acquired land in the south of the city - on what is now South Broadway Avenue. There he built a greenhouse that served as the basis for his small plant trade.

The building that still exists today was built in 1931 and later expanded as business activities grew. In 1958 Jane and Jack Greer, daughter and son-in-law of Judges, took over the business and continued to run it until 1977. The two subsequent owners also continued to run the flower shop. After another change of ownership, the house was renovated in 2003 and converted into a private residence.

The former flower shop was declared a Tyler Historic Landmark on June 11, 1985 . It is now located in the 2003 Azalea Residential Historic District .
