Tyler Historic Landmark
Tyler Historic Landmark is a title awarded by the City Council of the Texan city of Tyler to designate historically significant structures within the urban area.

To preserve the city's cultural heritage, the Tyler Historical Preservation Board was established in 1969 by the Tyler City Planning Department. The task of the committee, which currently consists of nine members, is to identify sites of historical, cultural or architectural importance and to raise the population's awareness of the city's cultural monuments. For the structural maintenance of the objects, the city of Tyler launched a volunteer program that includes the owners of the houses.
The structures have been designated as Tyler Historic Landmarks since 1983 . The first two buildings to receive this status were the Marvin United Methodist Church and the Saint James Christian Methodist Episcopal Church on August 9, 1983 . As of February 2008, 67 structures and facilities had been declared Tyler Historic Landmarks . A sticker (see picture) indicating this status is attached to all buildings.
The Tyler Historical Preservation Board sifts through applications for awards and makes recommendations after review. The city council makes the decision on the award of the title.
