The Jugend- und Sozialwerk non-profit GmbH ( JuS ) is an independent company in the social economy and a recognized independent agency for youth welfare based in Oranienburg in Brandenburg . With more than 1,300 employees, over 10,000 KiTa care places and six recognized schools, JuS is one of the largest non-profit organizations in the Federal Republic of Germany.

Business areas and activities

The non-profit activities of the JuS are carried out in 67 day-care centers, 5 schools, a technical school for social affairs and a residence for adults with disabilities. In addition, JuS is the operator of the humanistic youth celebrations in the Oberhavel district.

JuS relies on the participation of everyone involved in the upbringing. The JuS feels obliged to humanistic traditions and ideals. The JuS has an independent carrier concept. In addition, each facility develops its own pedagogical concept that corresponds to both the zeitgeist and the country-specific requirements.

Day care centers

The Jugend- und Sozialwerk non-profit GmbH operates a network of day-care centers in eastern Germany. Some of the sponsoring institutions offer childcare places for children from the age of one; other day-care centers also take in very young children from the eighth week. Several day care centers offer affiliated after-school care. The educational offers ranged from Kneipp day-care centers, open work facilities, day-care centers with fixed groups, integrative day-care centers to ecologically-oriented day-care centers. Natural science, language, sustainable living, integration, training in media skills, but above all independence and taking on responsibility are aspects that children should learn and experience in JuS care facilities.

Heard

The after-school care centers provide a living space and experience space for primary school children. After school, supervised children can spend their free time under the supervision of the JuS. Several JuS after-school care centers cooperate with the primary schools, so that comprehensive supervision of the students can take place in coordination with both institutions. All after-school care centers are located in the vicinity of the schools or directly on their premises. In addition, JuS also operates day care centers with an attached after-school care center.

The Jugend- und Sozialwerk non-profit GmbH operates two mosaic elementary schools, a mosaic high school and a mosaic high school in the state of Brandenburg. Since 2016, the JuS has been the operator of the newly founded Mosaik-Fachschule für Sozialwesen with the aim of training state-approved educators. In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, JuS operates the Rosenow School Center (Mosaic Primary School Rosenow), which teaches students from the first to the sixth grade.

In terms of general identification with the school, the applicable rules and the educational objectives, the students wear uniform school outerwear.
