The youth welfare Cologne e. V. (JHK) was founded in 1976 at the request of the city ​​of Cologne to take action against youth unemployment . The JHK is a non-profit association and a recognized independent organization of youth welfare with different fields of work. The programs and projects include (career) orientation, advice, support, employment, work, qualification and placement. The office of youth welfare in Cologne is based in Cologne-Ehrenfeld .

Purpose of the association

The purpose of the Cologne Youth Welfare Association is to promote upbringing and vocational training, youth care and youth welfare as well as tolerance in all areas of culture and to selflessly support socially disadvantaged and individually handicapped people with psychosocial care, counseling and other assistance in participating in social life .

Board of Directors and Management

The chairman of Jugendhilfe Köln eV is the city councilor responsible for youth welfare affairs, currently Robert Voigtsberger. The chairperson and the deputy chairperson of the youth welfare committee of the city of Cologne are deputy chairpersons. These are currently Ralf Heinen and Helge Schlieben. Almut Gross has been the managing director since 2002. Her predecessor, Herbert Schorn, retired after 25 years.

Jugendhilfe Köln eV has two non-profit subsidiaries: KölnKitas gGmbH, operates almost 40 day-care centers and family centers.
