Julian R. Havil (born September 11, 1952 ) is a British math teacher and author.

Havil holds a PhD in Mathematics from Oxford University and has been a Masters in Mathematics at Winchester College since 1976 , where he taught for 33 years. He is known from various popular science mathematics books. In two books ( Nonplussed and Impossible ) he deals with paradoxical solutions to problems or solutions that run counter to common sense, which can nevertheless be justified strictly mathematically (for example the Banach-Tarski Paradox and Benford's Law in Impossible ).
