The Junge UNO-Netzwerk Deutschland eV (JUNON) is the union of groups and associations of young people who deal with the United Nations . JUNON eV is the official partner of the German Society for the United Nations .

history

The association goes back to the initiative of a number of student participants at the Potsdam UN Conference 2004 of the United Nations Research Group. In 2004, an informal meeting of the younger conference participants took place for the first time after the conference. In December 2005 JUNON was founded in Frankfurt am Main with the aim of enabling networking and cooperation between young UN groups in Germany.

In January 2007, the association , conceived as a loose network, was converted into a registered association . At the end of 2007 the cooperation with the German Society for the United Nations was contractually fixed.

The association has over 30 member groups from all over Germany.

aims

Above all, the network should serve the exchange between the individual member groups. The common concern is to arouse interest in the work of the UN among young German people and to strengthen their commitment to the goals of the United Nations.

Work of the association

JUNON delegate assembly

The network meets annually at the JUNON delegate assembly to agree on common projects and goals and to advise on further developments. Associated with this is a network meeting lasting several days, in which interested young people from all over Germany take part in order to discuss current global political issues within the framework of the work of the United Nations. In panel discussions and lectures by professional guest speakers, the participants should get a better insight into the topics and be shown the possibilities of their own participation.

The focus of the work lies in the areas of German youth participation at the UN and in the nationwide networking of Model United Nations initiatives (MUNs). The association is divided into several working groups, among others for the areas of public relations, event planning and administration.

The association's board consists of the two general secretaries and the treasurer.

JUNON is internationally involved in the World Association of Youth Organizations of Societies for the United Nations (WFUNA-Youth).
