Virgin (typography)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Virgo is a term in typography that is used to mark a finished page as error-free.

Every page set for printing is proofread. In some printing works there are trained employees, the proofreaders . They check the text for spelling, typography and typesetting rules. To do this, they mark anything wrong in the sentence. If such a checked page does not contain any errors, there are no correction characters on the page and it remains virgin .

Based on advertising

In advertising , the technical term virgin has developed into the virgin miracle, which describes an absolutely flawless printed work. Since this fact almost never occurs in practice, the term is mostly used to comment on the opposite, a strongly defective print work: “What did you expect? A virgin miracle? "
