The initiators were the four lawyers Zita Küng, Brigitte Pérez-Frei, Petra Hauser and Kitty von Streng. More than 100 women lawyers from all parts of the country were present at the inauguration ceremony, as was the then President of the European Women Lawyers Association EWLA, Elisabeth Müller. The first female federal judge in Switzerland, Margrith Bigler-Eggenberger , gave a speech and encouraged the lawyers to join forces . The conference president was the Lausanne lawyer Catherine Jaccottet Tissot. Regula Kägi-Diener was elected as the first president. Her speech "Olympe de Gouges - the beginning of modern law" was later published in the German feminist-legal journal "Streit". Since Alice Reichmuth was elected president, Regula Kägi-Diener has acted as honorary president of the association.
