The Kõbajad are a group of small islands off the west coast of the Republic of Estonia . Administratively, they belong to the rural community of Lääneranna in Pärnu County .

The historical German name of the archipelago is Haardeyer , the Swedish Hårdöarna .
The Baltic Sea islands are uninhabited. They are located in the Suur väin (“Great Sound”) strait , north of the Virtsu ( Werder ) harbor, before entering the Mõniste ( Mõniste laht ) bay .
The surface of the islands is rocky; they are partially overgrown with bushes.
The islands and the adjacent sea area are under nature protection on an area of 380 hectares. They are part of the nature reserve of Puhtu-Laelatu ( Puhtu-Laelatu looduskaitseala ).
Islands
The largest island in the group is Kõbajalaid (also Suurlaid or Kõbaja suurlaid ) with 7.8 hectares . To the east of this is the island of Maielaid (2.1 hectares), which is almost connected to Kõbajalaid .
The other islands are called Paljaslaid (1.34 hectares), Plokilaid (0.38 hectares), Lammaslaid, Pihlalaid and Kingissepalaid . The group also includes smaller spars .
