Cologne board
A device for concealed hanging of curtains is called a Cologne board . Here a curtain rail or strip is mounted under a horizontally lying, approximately 15 centimeter wide support board, which is faced with a vertical, approximately 5 centimeter wide board at the front. This facing, which is also present on the sides of the carrying board, was usually profiled, gold-plated or colored; specimens that have been covered with wallpaper are also known.
The entire construction is mounted on the wall above the window opening using metal brackets or drop-in anchors, alternatively directly under the ceiling.
The Cologne board was invented in 1932 by the company owner Hugo Bohn and can still be found in old apartments.
The name Am Kölner Brett on a street in Cologne - Ehrenfeld , at the time the headquarters of the developer company Messing-Müller, reminds of the name .
