The Royal Palace of Tonga is the headquarters of the King of Tonga in the northwest of the capital Nukuʻalofa .

The wooden palace , which is considered one of the smallest royal main residences in the world, was built in the 1867th The current fence around the palace was only put in place by King Taufaʻahau Tupou IV around 1990. Previously, this was surrounded by a stone wall that was considered sacred. It is located on an area of ​​around 23,000 square meters directly on the Pacific .

Since 2010, the palace has been expanded by two side wings, which are primarily intended to be home to administrative offices.
