The Königsstein (also Napoleonstein ) is an old boundary stone on the Tillenberg .

The Königsstein has been known as a boundary stone since 1591. At first it was called the broad stone because of its shape . It is a naturally deposited stone made of ribbon or mica slate. The so-called Frais was demarcated with Fraischsteinen . It got its name as a boundary stone of the Bohemian rule Königswarth (Kinsvart). Since 1793 it has been part of the border line between Altmugl and Königsstein. It was the boundary stone of Bavaria and between the Austro-Hungarian monarchy and the German Empire. Today it marks the German-Czech border. Numerous carvings prove the long history as a landmark. In addition to arrows that mark the borderline, there are numerous inscriptions on it: 1739, 18N13, 1844, 225, a clover leaf and D and B. The Königsstein is often incorrectly referred to as the "Napoleon Stone".

The Königsstein is a hiking destination of various hiking trails, which u. a. can be started in Neualbenreuth . The garnet fountain and the center of Europe are in the immediate vicinity .
