Refrigerator test

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The so-called refrigerator test is a qualitative detection method for chylomicrons . In the procedure, fasting blood serum is stored at 4 ° C overnight. If a "cream layer" arises on top, this is considered positive evidence of chylomicrons. A homogeneous cloudiness, on the other hand, would indicate an increased concentration of VLDL ( Very Low Density Lipoprotein ). This test has differential diagnostic significance in the diagnosis of disorders of the lipid metabolism .
