history

KGAL was founded on August 27, 1968 in Hamburg by the Hamburger Sparkasse and the entrepreneur Karl Kreusel. After the rise to one of the leading real estate leasing companies in Germany, the company moved to Munich in 1977 before moving to its current headquarters in Grünwald in 1981 .

KGAL's business model has changed and expanded since it was founded in 1968. KGAL was originally a real estate leasing company operating in Germany, which financed property, plant and equipment for national customers with leasing concepts . After the conception of the first aircraft leasing fund in 1979, KGAL was also present abroad. Today's business model is more extensive: KGAL invests globally in real capital investments and offers the investment properties to its investors for subscription. KGAL is now primarily active with real estate in Germany and Austria, worldwide with aircraft, with photovoltaic systems in Bulgaria, Germany, Spain , Italy , Great Britain and France and with wind turbines in Germany, France, Sweden and Finland. In 2016 hydropower plants were added in Italy.

KGAL develops and offers investment opportunities for institutional investors and family offices , so-called private placements for wealthy investors as well as for private investors. Closed participations must be checked and approved by the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin). The test mainly covers a number of legally required minimum information. The economic soundness of the investments is not the subject of the examination. Since July 22, 2013 - the day on which the implementation of the Directive on the Regulation of Managers of Alternative Investment Funds (AIFM) came into force in German law - the initiators of closed funds are also subject to the KAGB (Capital Investment Code) . In addition to the conception and placement on the market, KGAL also takes on the role of managing the investment properties that are the subject of the investment.

Products

The company focuses on real capital investments in the areas of real estate, aircraft and infrastructure (renewable energies). With the KGAL / Alcas No. 173 public fund , the company made a significant contribution to the financing of the Munich Allianz Arena . KGAL was also involved in the Gasteig cultural center in Munich. It is considered a pioneering project for public-private partnerships , in which the construction management was optimized and costs were reduced by private partners. KGAL was the initiator of the first aircraft leasing fund in Germany and has carried out more than 700 aircraft transactions since 1979. In 1989, Lufthansa Leasing GmbH was founded as the first joint venture between Lufthansa and KGAL to provide aircraft financing for Deutsche Lufthansa AG and its subsidiaries . As a second joint venture between Lufthansa and KGAL, GOAL German Operating Aircraft Leasing GmbH & Co. KG was founded in 1998. a. is responsible for the management of the aircraft in KGAL aircraft funds. KGAL has been on the market for over 13 years, currently with 1.12 GW total output in photovoltaics, wind (offshore and onshore) and hydropower, and is one of the largest private investors in the field of renewable energies.
