Ka'b ibn As'ad

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ka'b ibn As'ad ( Arabic كعب بن أسعد, DMG Kaʿb b. Asʿad ) was a leader of the Yathrib (Medina) Jewish tribe of the Banu Quraiza at the time of Muhammad . Ka'b ibn As'ad was beheaded at the behest of Muhammad after the trench battle , along with all the men of the Banu Quraiza, after the Banu Quraiza, under Ka'b ibn As'ad, had surrendered to him. Before that, according to Ibn Ishaq , Ka'b ibn As'ad cut his clothes so that no one would steal them after his death. The women of the Banu Quraiza were enslaved. Ka'b ibn As'ad had turned down warnings from Abu Lubaba , who was a former ally, and predicted that Mohammed would kill them if they surrender. Ibn Ishaq reports that before his execution he had turned to Mohammed and stated that he was not wrong for resisting Mohammed. He is said to have declared to his executioners: "As God orders it, so it is right. God has predetermined a book, a fate and a slaughter for the sons of Israel."
