Kajaran ( Armenian Կաջարան ; scientific transliteration Kaǰaran; also Kadjaran, Qajaran ) is a city in the southeastern Armenian province of Syunik . The city has economic importance primarily through the mine Sangesurer copper and molybdenum combine , the largest single taxpayer in Armenia.
The distance to the provincial capital Kapan is around 25 km, to the Armenian capital Yerevan 316 km.
In the 2011 census, the official population was 7143. Compared to the previous census in 2001, when 8,439 people still lived there, it was about a sixth lower.
