The Kagi-Nawa ( Japanese 鉤 縄 throwing anchor ) is a Japanese cutting weapon and a tool at the same time.

description

The Kagi-Nawa consists of a multi-pronged metal hook to which an approximately 10 meter long rope is attached. The anchor is usually made of iron and has a round or square cross-section. At the end there is usually an eyelet that is used to attach the rope.

use

The Kagi-Nawa was used by Japanese soldiers to climb buildings and ramparts. It also served as a multi-purpose tool, among other things to secure boats, hang up armor at night or knock down obstacles. He was led by the soldiers on the saddle.
