The Kalakpa-game reserve (Engl. Kalakpa Game Production Reserve ) is a 32,020-hectare forest reserve in Ghana .

The reserve is located in the southeast of the country, about 120 kilometers (as the crow flies) northeast of the capital Accra and about 30 kilometers south of the city of Ho in the Volta Region .

description

The protected area was founded in 1975 by a resolution of the Ghanaian government, it is located on the foothills of the Togo Mountains. Before this area became an animal reserve, it was the preferred hunting area for foreigners in the larger cities of Ghana.

In this animal reserve you can find lions and elephants as well as the typical Ghanaian fauna of the Ghanaian tree savannah. In addition to other animals, a large number of buffalo , antelopes , baboons and smaller mammals can be found in the reserve . The bird life is worth seeing here.
