action

Two men die just a few days apart. Official causes of death are accidents and suicide . Dryden suspects murder, especially since the victims are the only witnesses in an impending trial against the Catholic Church, which involves long-ago abuse in an orphanage . During his investigation, Dryden comes across another motive for murder: The two men were to be exonerated as witnesses for a retrial in which the rehabilitation and release from prison of a murderer convicted 30 years ago should be negotiated.

Dryden struggles to reconstruct the events that took place 30 years ago in a holiday resort. He slowly realizes that as a twelve-year-old - without realizing it - he was involved in the events of that time. The focus seems to be on the attractive owner of the facility, the wife of the suspected murderer who has been in prison for 30 years.
