Kanishka III.

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kanishka (III.) Was a ruler of the Kushana . Its dating and classification are controversial. It dates to either the second or third century AD.

Kanishka is known only from a Kharoshthi inscription on a stone, which was found near the Indus valley and reports the excavation of a well. The inscription is dated to the year 41. In the inscription, Kanishka is referred to as the son of Vasishka . Among other things, his title is the Roman imperial title kaisara . The exact dating of the ruler is problematic because it is not entirely certain to which era the year 41 refers.
