Cannibal hymn

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The so-called Cannibal Anthem (Engl. Cannibal hymn ) is in Egyptology controversially discussed part of the Pyramid of Unas held Pyramid Texts . It includes Proverbs 273 and 274 and describes how Pharaoh Unas achieved immortality in the hereafter by eating his parents, his enemies and ultimately the gods themselves .

While the majority of researchers assume a metaphor , some experts (including EA Wallis Budge ) believe that the passage indicates that cannibalism was practiced in Egypt before or during the time of Unas .
