cannonade

Cannonade refers to a continuous, usually unilateral, bombardment of enemy troops , their positions or localities with artillery . In contrast, in an artillery duel there is mutual fire.

The poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe reports on the Valmy cannonade on September 20, 1792.

In the figurative sense of the word , the term means a "bombardment" with letters, applications, statements, etc. beyond the normal.
