The cannon tower with the address Im Städtle 32 in Vellberg is a historical secular building.

description

The cannon tower was part of the medieval fortification of Vellberg, which was started in 1466 and finished in the early 16th century. A watercolor by Johann Friedrich Reik shows in the right half of the picture the large round gun turret with an open platform and archway to the Zwinger, which protected the entrance to the Zwinger as well as the Vellberger Steige and the castle moat. There used to be guns, hook-boxes and half-hooks on the tower.
