Kansai Ki-in

The Kansai Ki-in (関 西 棋院), German about Kansai - Go Association, is a Japanese Go Association that was founded in 1950 by Hashimoto Utaro . Although the association is not as big as its main rival Nihon Ki-in , like the latter it also awards Dan and professional diplomas to strong Japanese and foreign go players.

Due to World War II , it was very difficult to travel from Osaka to Tokyo to participate in Nihon Ki-in tournaments. For this reason, the NHK founded a western branch. When there was a dispute over the Hon'inbō title, the Kansai Ki-in declared its independence. Due to the fact that Hashimoto Utaro held the Hon'inbō title at this time, this also went into the Kansa Ki-in.

The association has held the Kansai Ki In First Place Championship every year since 1957 . The winners were:
