The Kanta is a shield from Indonesia . It is used by the Toraja ethnic group on the island of Sulawesi .
description
The kanta is usually made of wood. It is relatively narrow and elongated and its cross-section is V-shaped. It is a little wider in the middle than at either end. Both ends are slightly pointed. The front is richly decorated with the hair of the domestic goat , which is worked into horizontal tufts. These tufts of hair are arranged in overlapping rows in the colors white, red and black. In addition, inlays made from bones or mussels as well as whole mussels are attached. The kanta is used by ethnic groups from Indonesia.
