Cantonal library Nidwalden
The Nidwalden Cantonal Library is a public study and educational library in Stans . It is subordinate to the Education Directorate of the Canton of Nidwalden and is affiliated with the Office for Culture. According to the law on the promotion of cultural life, its main task is the preservation of the Nidwalden cultural heritage , the Nidwaldensia . To this end, it collects all publications , pamphlets, image and audio documents that are written by Nidwalden authors, thematically related to the canton or that are published in Nidwalden .

The library is the second youngest canton library in Switzerland . It was founded in 1970.
Duration
The library lends out entertainment literature and literature from various fields of knowledge. It also provides a wide range of non-fiction , which is supplemented by magazines and audio books. She specifically collects and archives the Nidwalden literature (Nidwaldensia) .
The focus is on: Nidwaldensia, fiction and non-fiction, especially from the fields of history, folklore , art, linguistics and literary studies and philosophy.
