Cantonal court designated

  • in the cantons of Lucerne, Schwyz, Freiburg, Basel-Landschaft, Appenzell Innerrhoden, St. Gallen, Graubünden, Waadt, Wallis, Neuchâtel and Jura the court of second instance, see Higher Court (Switzerland)
  • the court of first instance in the cantons of Obwalden, Nidwalden, Zug, Glarus, Appenzell Ausserrhoden and Schaffhausen , see District Court (Switzerland)

The other cantons have as two instances either regional courts and higher court (Uri), district courts and higher court (Zurich, Aargau, Thurgau), regional courts and higher court (Bern), civil / criminal court and appellate court (Basel-Stadt), judicial offices and higher court (Solothurn) ), Pretura and court of appeal / court of appeal (Ticino) or civil / criminal court and court of justice (Geneva).
