Solothurn canton police

The Solothurn Canton Police is the police force for the Solothurn Canton . Their tasks include preventing accidents and criminal offenses , maintaining public safety and order, prosecuting criminal offenses, ensuring road safety, supporting the authorities and providing first aid in the event of disasters in the canton. It employs around 500 people in the police force.

The canton is divided into five police regions. The Solothurn canton police maintain a total of 17 police posts as a contact point for the population. The command is in Solothurn. The corps is divided into a security , a crime and a command department . In addition, there are special groups which are called in to support the regular specialist services and which are made up of specialists from the individual departments.

The police officers are trained at the Intercantonal Police School (IPH) in Hitzkirch . After graduating from police school, they are assigned to the security department, where they gradually settle into their jobs. During and after their training, police officers can do internships in other police forces, among other things, in order to improve their foreign language skills. Internships in various specialist and subject areas also expand general knowledge. After several years of service experience in the security department, there is the possibility of specialization within one of the three departments.
