Chapel in Everloh

The Evangelical Lutheran Chapel in Everloh is a neo-Gothic brick chapel from the 19th century. It belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Lenthe -Northen.

history

In 1873 Conrad Wilhelm Hase was commissioned to build a chapel that could accommodate 100 people. The old church in Everloh had become dilapidated and had to be demolished. The chapel was consecrated on May 23, 1878. Hase created a house of worship which, with its pointed arches and vaults, is considered a jewel of the neo-Gothic brick art of the Hanover School .

altar

The late Gothic altar of the chapel was made by the Benedict master around 1520 and originally comes from the Wennigsen monastery. It is regarded as an important work of carving in Lower Saxony. The altar shows 19 men, women and children standing or sitting around a table - the holy clan . The altar originally included two altar wings, which have been considered lost since 1877. Today the altar shows Joseph, Mary and Jesus and Saint Anne . It also shows the families of Maria Cleophas and Maria Salome, who, according to legend, were Jesus' aunts. Augustine and Barbara stand on the two side panels .
