The Manning Catholic Chapel , built between 2015 and 2017, is a modern church in the Manning district of the Austrian community of Pirching am Traubenberg . It was architecturally planned and artistically furnished by the artist Roswitha Dautermann . It is considered to be one of the most modern church buildings in southeast Styria.

Building

Before the new building, the former fire brigade armory from the 1960s was used as a chapel . After this had become dilapidated, a chapel building association was founded and the decision to build a new religious building that would shape the local image was decided. The artist Roswitha Dautermann from Raabau, who is experienced in sacred art, was engaged to design the 32 square meter contemporary church . The church was built exclusively through personal contribution and from the own resources of the approx. 150 inhabitants of Manning.

The basic architectural principle of the chapel goes back to a fishing boat, with which the artist refers to the biblical passage of the fishermen of men. The outer walls are lined up at an angle, light is directed into the interior through the painted and unpainted glass slits. The inclined walls and the inclined shape of the tower symbolize the agitation of human faith as well as the constant change of the church itself. The tower with a bell structure that is open at the bottom houses the bell of the old chapel and is twelve meters high and can be seen in the area . The small church was consecrated by Pastor Blasius Chodoba to the three divine virtues of faith, hope and love.
