The meteor shower of the kappa cygnids is active during the period 3 to 25 August. During this period only a small number of kappa cygnids ( ZHR : 3 meteors per hour) can be observed. The radian shifts only slightly, so the radiant position is continuously about 5 degrees north of the star κ-Cygni.

The Kappa-Cygnids reached a maximum ZHR of 6 meteors per hour in the years 2000 and 2014. Furthermore, there was increased activity in 1950, 1993 and 2007.
