The Karaçomak dam ( Turkish Karaçomak Barajı ) is located 7 km south of the provincial capital Kastamonu in the Turkish province of the same name .

The Karaçomak dam was built in the years 1969-1976 on Karaçomak Deresi , a right tributary of the Gökırmak . The multi-purpose dam is used to irrigate an area of ​​4250 hectares, to supply Kastamonu with drinking water and to protect against flooding . The barrier structure is a 49 m high earthfill dam . The dam volume is 1.1 million m³. The 3 km long reservoir covers an area of ​​1.54 km² with normal damming. The storage volume is 23 million m³.
