Karl Rehn
Karl Rehn was a German chemist .
The plastic polypropylene was synthesized for the first time in March 1954 by Rehn in the Hoechst color works and at the same time by the chemist Giulio Natta together with Paolo Chini at the Politecnico di Milano . Rehn used a Ziegler catalyst for the synthesis . Hoechst decided against a patent. The Italian company Montecatini started industrial production in 1957. In 1963 Karl Ziegler and Giulio Natta received the Nobel Prize for Chemistry.
