Karoline Ernst
Karoline Ernst , née Johanna Carolina Ernestine Auguste Köthe (born February 14, 1821 in Eisenach , † April 7, 1897 in Aachen ) was a German theater actress and director .
Life
Ernst began her career at the Hoftheater Weimar, where she performed successfully as "Louise", "Clärchen" and "Gretchen" and in other roles in the tragic youthful amateur field. Her intellectual talent and personality, however, showed her at a very young age to the subject of hero mothers, chaperones and salon ladies . It was mainly the tragic female characters "Eboli", "Milford", "Adelheid", "Orsina", "Porzia" etc. who were among her outstanding achievements.
After marrying her colleague Moritz Ernst in 1847 , she also took part in the direction and later in the theater management. She was also a professor at the Cologne Conservatory for many years.
