Kataḫziwuri

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kataḫziwuri or Kataḫzipuri was a Hattic and Palai goddess.

Kataḫziwuri is in a Hatti called Bauritual, with the note that they probably rule the construction, and the gods blacksmith Ḫašammeli asked to take the iron pole, the copper hammer and the iron stove. In the Hittite translation, her name is replaced by Kamrušepa . Both goddesses have in common that they play a central role in cleansing rituals. When the moon god fell on the Liḫzina market , Kataḫziwuri saw it down from the sky. Together with Ḫapantali, she performed a ritual to save the moon god.

Like Kamrušepa, Kataḫzipuri also seems to have a closer relationship with the sun deity. She is named in second place in Palaan gods lists immediately before the sun god Tiyaz .

The hattic name can possibly be added to the hattic words kattaḫ "queen" and wur "country".
