Kata metron
Kata metron ( ancient Greek "according to one measure") denotes in ancient verse such meter measures that consist of the repetition of metrically equal units. A distinction is made according to the number of these units ( meters ):
- Monometer (1 meter)
- Dimeter (2 meters)
- Trimeter (3 meters)
- Tetrameter (4 meters)
- Pentameters (5 meters)
- Hexameter (6 meters)
Verses (for example Aeolian ) that cannot be broken down into similar units were called ou kata metron in ancient theory .
