Kathleen Brennan

Kathleen Patricia Brennan (* in Johnsburg , Illinois ) is an American artist. She is married to the American singer, composer, actor and author Tom Waits .

Life

Kathleen Brennan and Tom Waits met in 1980 during the filming of the Francis Ford Coppola film One from the Heart (Engl. One from the Heart ). Waits co-wrote the soundtrack for the film with Crystal Gayle . Brennan worked as a script assistant at the American Zoetrope film studio founded and run by Francis Ford Coppola and George Lucas .

Waits and Brennan were married on August 10, 1980 at the 24-hour Always Forever Yours Wedding Chapel in Watts after a brief midnight phone call to Reverend Donald W. Washington, the Church's pastor.

Although Brennan rarely appears in public, she has co-produced and co-written virtually all of her husband's work since Swordfishtrombones (1983). In 2016 they were jointly awarded the PEN / Song Lyrics Award.

Brennan is also active as a painter and contributed the pictures to Waits' album with the music for the play The Black Rider .

She lives in California with her husband and three children, Kellesimone (* 1983), Casey Xavier (* 1985) and Sullivan (* 1993) .
