description

The Katholische Blätter appeared on January 1, 1849 as the successor to the Volksblatt für Religion und Gesetz (Volksblatt für Religion und Gesetz), a Catholic magazine for instruction, respect and warning (editor Albert Pflügl), which was reissued from June 1848 . Initially, the name was Catholic papers for faith, freedom and morality . The last issue was issued on December 21, 1907. From 1860 to 1865 the magazine Christliche Kunstblätter appeared as a supplement to the Katholische Blätter.

The newspaper changed the format several times. It was published from 1849 to 1881 in the 4 ° format, from 1882 to 1894 in the 2 ° format and then again in the 4 ° format until 1907. The newspaper was initially published twice a week, then weekly. Between 1862 and 1866 two issues per week were published, from 1889 the frequency of publication was reduced to three times a month and from 1895 further to fortnightly.
