A buying video is a video that is offered for sale. The video can e.g. B. be stored on a data carrier (e.g. DVD ) or accessed via the Internet ( video-on-demand ). Buying a video via download is called download-to-own .

In the event of a purchase, ownership of the video does not pass to the buyer, only the data carrier and packaging, any booklet that may be present and other accessories. The buyer only receives a limited right of use. Ownership of the video remains with the author . What this right of use looks like is defined by the rights holder (author) and the copyright law .
