The Kavalierhaus in Langenargen is a historic building from the 19th century.

architecture

The building was erected from February 1866 on the edge of the castle park of Schloss Montfort according to plans by the architect Gottlieb Pfeilsticker . Charles I of Württemberg had placed the order after it became clear that there was no room in the actual Montfort Castle for the entire staff and for Her Majesty's Cavalier the Queen Mother and the Cavalier of His Royal Highness the Prince Friedrich .

Pfeilsticker laid out the Kavalierhaus completely symmetrically on the outside, which resulted in the curiosity of the dummy toilet window on the street side. In the park around Montfort Castle and the Kavalierhaus, sequoias , bananas, palm trees and the last of twelve copper beeches that King Charles I had planted grow .

Todays use

The Kavalierhaus now serves as a restaurant and cultural center. The Kavalierhaus scholarship has been awarded since 1997, which enables visual artists to live in the Kavalierhaus for three months and then present an exhibition there. There is a lounge in the castle park during the summer months.
