The Kavalleriegeld was a tax that had to be paid by the rural population in Prussia in the 18th century .

The cavalry bargain replaced the obligation to provide the cavalry with the necessary food in kind after the entire cavalry had been moved from the country to the cities in 1717 . The cavalry bar is seen as an early form of property tax .
