Cavern (medicine)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In medicine, a pathological cavity is called a cavern (from Latin caverna, the cave) .

A perforated cavity is a cavity that is found in the intact lung tissue as if punched out and has a thin wall. The tuberculous cavern is created by the melting of casked tubercular tissue. A tubercular cavern can be seen as a ring shadow on the X-ray image , which is often only shown selectively by means of layer images.
