Kazuo soda

Kazuo Soda ( Japanese 早 田 一 男 , Soda Kazuo ; born November 24, 1930 in Nagasaki ) is a Japanese peace activist .

Soda personally witnessed the atomic bombing on Nagasaki on August 9, 1945. His older brother died in December of the same year as a result of being dropped by radioactive fallout , and Kazuo Soda's parents five years later.

In addition to his work as a teacher in a public high school, Soda is involved in the Hibakusha movement, which demands justice for the victims of the bombs and an outlawing of nuclear weapons.

In the early 1990s he quit teaching to work for peace around the world. In 2001 he was awarded the Aachen Peace Prize for his work .
