Circular mil
circular mil is a small English unit of area and is primarily used to determine the cross-section of wires and cables. The Anglo-American measure is equal to the area of a circle one mil in diameter, one thousandth of an inch (0.001 inch ).
- 1 circular mil = 0.0005067 square millimeters = 5.067075 × 10 −4 square millimeters
- 1 circular mil = π ⁄ 4 × 10 −6 square inches = 7.853982 × 10 −7 square inches
- 1 circular mil = 0.7853982 square mil
The use of kcmil (= 1000 cmil) is also common with regard to larger cable thicknesses from 0000 AWG .
