Sweeper

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sweepers are used by chimney sweeps to clean exhaust systems ( chimneys ). The first sweeping devices were made of fir or birch veins or cane and were called linen brooms. The travelers were connected to the line with a head and heart loop and pulled down by a ball. The durability and sweeping effect of these sweepers was only very inadequate. Sweeping equipment has improved over time. An improvement was the sweeper made of a piece of gas pipe with two steel washers and nuts as a striking device .

conditions

Sweeping devices should meet the following minimum requirements: The diameter of the sweeping insert must be 20 mm longer than the diagonal or the diameter of the clear chimney cross-section, but it must not exceed this length by more than 60 mm. The sweeping inserts should be so strong that they can be pulled into the chimney with a blow by a 2 kg ball. However, a 2.5 kg ball should pull the sweeper into the chimney without hitting it.
