The Celtic graves in Salzstetten are Celtic burial mounds from the Hallstatt period , i.e. the period between 800 BC. BC and 450 BC The area of ​​the grave mound is a ground monument according to the Baden-Württemberg monument protection law .

Investigations carried out by the Baden-Württemberg Monument Protection Office before 2002 revealed four well-preserved burial mounds. Intensive forest management is practiced in the area, and these archaeological monuments have suffered greatly as a result. Today only a burial mound is clearly recognizable, the other elevations in the forest area cannot be reliably identified as burial mounds. The burial mound on the side of the road has a diameter of about 15 m and a height of almost 1 m.

location

Salzstetten is a suburb of the Waldachtal community in the Freudenstadt district. The burial mound is about 100 m north of the Brünz horse farm on the northern edge of Salzstetten.
